Maintaining a marine aquarium with coral reefs is a significant challenge, especially when it comes to water quality. Among the critical parameters, KH (Carbonate Hardness) stands out as one of the most important. Frequent measurement and corrections using colorimetric tests can be an exhausting process.
Although there are several automated systems for measuring and correcting KH, most of them require frequent calibrations and intensive maintenance. The KH controllers and meters available on the market generally use the titration method, a relatively simple method, but which requires constant calibrations of the dosing devices and the pH probe. This can result in deviations in the measurements, especially when calibrations are not performed periodically.
Always seeking to innovate in the aquarium hobby through technology, we have developed a device that will facilitate the control of the KH of your aquarium. It performs frequent measurements according to your settings and is capable of performing corrective actions when necessary.
The Aquarino KH was designed to be efficient, easy to install and maintain. It provides continuous and automatic measurements of the KH of your marine aquarium, with a resolution of 0.1 DKH. It works independently of any aquarium controller.
If there is a rapid variation in the KH, the equipment will perform a confirmation test to validate the value, sending notifications by email and emitting audible and visual alerts.
How does it work?
The Aquarino KH does not use reagents, does not generate waste water and measures the KH based on the readings of the pH probe, using a circuit specially developed for this purpose.
Measurement:
You can configure the measurement interval, performing from 1 to 24 tests per day. In case of a power outage, don't worry: all your settings are saved permanently, and the equipment will automatically restart the tests.
Monitoring and History:
The Aquarino KH can be accessed via Wi-Fi or the internet. It provides email and audio alerts, as well as an indicator light that visually informs the user:
Blue - Low KH
Green - Normal KH
Red - High KH
Yellow - Error - User action required
White - Test in progress
KH Correction:
Variations in KH consumption throughout the day are normal in aquariums. Keeping KH as stable as possible is a major challenge. The Aquarino KH has 3 operating modes:
Monitoring Only: Performs readings without corrective actions.
KH Buffer Dosing: If KH is low, it promotes dosing through soft or fast compensation mode.
Calcium Reactor: If KH is high, it can automatically turn off the calcium reactor.
Integration:
The Aquarino KH has a BNC output (KH-pH), allowing integration with any aquarium controller through a pH interface.
Maintenance:
The entire design was designed to be simple and functional:
Replace the pH probe every 18 months.
Replace the dosing hose every 12 months.
Replace the air pump every 5 years.
